SUMMARY:Local Writers Night
DESCRIPTION:Our Local Writers Night is a warm\, welcoming evening of live w
riting\, open to both performers and audiences.\nAcross the night\, writer
s share short readings of poetry\, spoken word and prose\, with each perfo
rmer taking the stage for around five minutes. The event is fast-paced\, v
aried and supportive\, making it just as enjoyable to watch as it is to ta
ke part.\nWant to perform?Performance slots are booked in advance via a si
mple sign-up form. We aim to make space for as many people as possible\, a
nd everyone gets an equal slot on the night. Whether it’s your first tim
e reading in public or you’re an experienced writer trying out new work\
, you’re very welcome.Spaces can fill up\, so a waiting list may operate
\, and performers are usually confirmed around two weeks before the event.
\nApply to perform here: https://forms.gle/P7URKCQAuMGeScPu8\nJust want to
come along? You don’t have to be a writer to attend. Many people come si
mply to listen\, support friends\, or enjoy an evening of live writing in
a relaxed atmosphere. You’re very welcome to come on your own\, and we e
ncourage audiences to stay for the whole night so every reader has the sam
e supportive crowd.\nTickets are Pay What You Decide. Please book a ticket
in advance. You can reserve a free ticket and pay on the night\, or donat
e in advance if you’d prefer.\nBook your ticket here: https://burnleymec
 hanics.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/873679777\n\nDoors open 6.30pm\,
with performing writers asked to be at the venue by no later than 7pm. The
event usually starts at around 7.15pm\nKeep Reading - Go All In\n2026 is
the National Year of Reading. If you're interested in something\, read mor
 e about it. Whether that's a magazine\, a novel\, a comic book\, an audiob
ook or a poem\, every page counts.\n\nIf this event has sparked your inter
est\, we think you'll enjoy:\n\nHow a Poem Moves by Adam Sol\n\nThis is on
e of my favourite books about poetry because it makes it feel accessible\,
personal and enjoyable. Each chapter explores a different poem\, gently g
uiding you through it while leaving plenty of space to find your own meani
ng. Like a really good teacher\, it reminds us that poetry isn't about fin
ding the "right" answer. It's about discovering what the words mean to you
