Are you a local poet or writer interested in performing your work on stage — but not sure where to begin? Or a regular at our Local Writers Night looking to take your performance up a level?
Join award-winning performance poet Dominic Berry for this hands-on workshop designed to help you bring your words to life. Whether you’ve already read at one of our Spoken Word Nights or you’re still working up the courage, this small, supportive session will give you practical tools and encouragement to step up to the mic.
In this two-hour workshop, you’ll explore:
- Choosing the right piece for performance
- Techniques for reading with feeling and emotion
- How to use a microphone confidently
- Introducing yourself and your work
- Building stage confidence in a friendly space
Please bring a small selection of your poetry or writing with you — you’ll have the chance to workshop a piece and get feedback on your performance.
This is a Pay What You Decide Event but places are limited to 10, so booking for free in advance is strongly advised, book your spot here.
This workshop will take place in the basement studio of the Burnley Mechanics, which can be accessed step-free, directly from the car park behind the Mechanics.
