Burnley’s Mechanics Theatre has stood at the heart of the town for over 160 years — a place of stories, gatherings and community. But what about the people who kept it running behind the scenes?
Storyteller Gav Cross has been inspired by the tales of the Mechanics’ very first caretaker, William G. Goom and his book of tales The Cares of a Burnley Caretaker. After spending a week exploring the building and its history, Gav brings those voices of the past to life in a performance that’s as funny as it is steeped in local heritage.
Join us as Gav shares these stories for the first time, each short performance lasts around 20–30 minutes, with space to chat afterwards and share your thoughts.
No booking needed — just drop in and take a seat in the Theatre Bar (upstairs).
