Meet Burnley’s own working class, feminist pioneer!  That’s Ada Nield Chew, suffragist, pacifist, socialist, and stirring orator…  Join Jules Gibb and ensemble, as they share their continuing explorations of this long-neglected heroine of radical history.

Ada came to notoriety as the anonymous, whistle-blowing ‘Crewe Factory Girl’.  Now, inspired by Alan Plater’s 1980’s TV script, our team show her embarking on her calling as a soapbox activist on the Clarion Van tours of the North, alongside other forgotten giants of early, socialist feminism.  Scene from a work in progress, plus spoken word, Q&A and special guests from Crewe.

A Pendle Radicals event presented by Mid Pennine Arts.

This is event is Pay What You Decide on the night, but is very limited capacity so we recommend saving your seat in advance, by booking your free ticket here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/burnley-words/t-qjnoxov
