4–20 September | Queen Street Mill, Community Room | Free entry
Queen Street Mill is open Wednesday – Saturday from 12 pm – 4 pm. Entry to Writing the Mill exhibition is free, and entry to the wider museum is free for under 18’s, and £5 for adults. Entry includes a free guided tour, and
demonstrations of the original textile machinery.
Step inside Burnley’s historic Queen Street Mill and discover Writing The Mill — a new exhibition celebrating the town’s heritage, landscape, and creative spirit. Curated by Queen Street Mill’s Young Creatives Group, the exhibition brings together the voices of 15 local writers. From lyrical poems to evocative prose, their words draw inspiration from Burnley’s mill heritage, its landscapes, and the stories woven into the fabric of the community.
The exhibition runs from 4th to 20th September. Entry is free and no booking is required.
Join us on opening night, 4th September, for a celebratory evening of live readings from the writers themselves. Booking for the launch event is essential. Find out more here.
Writing the Mill is a Burnley Words Festival project, with Queen Street Mill and the Queen Street Mill Young Creatives.
Burnley Words Festival is funded by Arts Council England and delivered by Culturapedia in partnership with Burnley Leisure & Culture.
Queen Street Mill is owned and operated as museum by Lancashire County Council.
