Submissions open for The Burnley ViewPoint – Online and In Print

Spring/Summer – Online

To Celebrate Burnley Words Festival and the ‘Wordy Weekend’ (14th – 18th May) The Burnley ViewPoint are looking for submissions to the online Spring/Summer edition around the theme of ‘Things That Shape Our World.’

We want to hear about the things that make your everyday in Burnley that little bit better. We are particularly interested in articles about:

  • Organisations you are involved with Burnley that work to make our home better
  • Groups and hobbies you take part in that improve your well-beingb and/or the world around you
  • Times in your life where you have found solace in our local landscape or community

We are still interested in short stories, and poetry that also aligns with this theme. As always we are particularly interested in pieces that have a strong link to Burnley and the surrounding area.

Autumn/Winter – Print and Online

We are also working on a printed version of the Burnley ViewPoint that again focuses on the theme of ‘Things That Shape Our World’ but for the printed version we are interested in articles, or creative writing that is focussed on:

  • Our heritage, and how that shapes our lives in Burnley today
  • Organisations that are future focussed and looking to shape the Burnley of tomorrow
  • Personal links or stories of Queen Street Mill (or other mills in the area)

The printed version will only be 20 pages, and so space will be extremely limited, however we will also be uploading submissions to our online magazine.

For the printed version we also ask that wherever possible you send a relevant high resolution image, of which you own the rights. We will also be working with local photographers and creatives to showcase their work.

Submission Guidelines:

All submissions should be titled with your name and the piece’s title, and submitted as a Word document or PDF file, images should be supplied as seperate files, not within the text document.

Original Work Only: We only accept original work created by you. No AI-generated content or plagiarised pieces will be considered. We value authentic voices and genuine stories from Burnley (and the surrounding areas), so please ensure your submission is entirely your own creation.

Services and Collaborations:

If you’re an artist, graphic designer, editor, or marketing expert interested in collaborating or offering your services to help shape this publication, we’d love to hear from you.

Email us at [email protected] to discuss how we can work together.
